AeroVironment has secured a $117 million contract to supply its P550 long-range reconnaissance UAVs to the US Army under its LRR program. The electric vertical takeoff and landing drone features modular architecture, enabling rapid reconfiguration for reconnaissance and strike missions. Equipped with AI-powered target recognition and onboard computing systems, the P550 enhances situational awareness in both day and night operations. With a flight endurance of up to five hours and a payload capacity of 15 pounds, the system provides flexible mission capabilities. Deliveries are expected to be completed by mid-2026.
