Red Cat Holdings is seeking approval for its Black Widow short-range reconnaissance drone under the Pentagon’s Blue UAS Cleared List, a critical gateway for US military adoption. To support the process, the company has enlisted SpiderOak, a certified Blue UAS assessor, to perform comprehensive cybersecurity and supply-chain evaluations. The review will include threat modeling, secure-by-design analysis, and compliance checks against US government cybersecurity frameworks. The effort reflects Red Cat’s growing role in the US defense unmanned systems market, following a sharp rise in revenues driven by major drone contracts. Inclusion on the Blue UAS list would position the Black Widow as a trusted platform for sensitive military and government operations.
