Rheinmetall has begun serial production of the Kraken K3 Scout unmanned surface vessel through its joint venture with the UK’s Kraken Technology Group. Production is taking place at the Blohm+Voss facility in Hamburg, which is being developed as a center for autonomous maritime systems. Initial output is set at around 200 vessels annually, with potential expansion to 1,000 units depending on demand. The 8.4-meter platform can reach 55 knots, carry 600 kilograms of payload, and perform missions including surveillance, logistics, casualty evacuation, infrastructure security, and weapons carriage.
