Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has authorized operational use of the Zmiy Droid 12.7 NRK, a domestically developed ground combat robot designed to reduce soldier exposure during high-risk missions. Armed with a 12.7mm machine gun, the platform supports strike and reconnaissance tasks across rugged terrain, including sand, snow, and shallow water. Its armored hull provides resilience against mines and FPV drone attacks. Operated by a single controller, the system integrates an AI-enabled combat module capable of autonomous target tracking. Proven performance from earlier Ukrainian ground robots suggests the platform is entering service as a mature combat capability.
