Egypt’s AOI and China’s NORINCO have signed an MoU to co-produce tactical UAVs, combining Chinese technology with AOI’s Aircraft Factory. A centerpiece of the collaboration is the unveiling of the Hamza-2, a strike-capable drone based on China’s ASN-209 platform, equipped for reconnaissance and guided-weapons missions. Details on production scale and export goals remain undisclosed. The agreement was formalized at EDEX in New Cairo, attended by over 450 defense companies and high-level delegations. AOI also signed new deals with Abu Dhabi Aviation Group and Al-Qalaa Red Flag to expand cooperation in manufacturing, sustainment, and exports. Additionally, Egypt deepened its link with France’s Dassault Aviation through localized Rafale component production, solidifying its regional defense-industry ambitions.
