To improve the effectiveness of mine and explosive clearance, the British Army has deployed the remotely controlled “Weevil” robotic system. The Weevil, which was created in collaboration between the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and British company Pearson Engineering Ltd, is mounted on a military vehicle for pushing and excavating mines aside to create safe routes for combatants on the battlefield.
