To boost protection of key undersea infrastructure, the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory has adopted a specialized underwater robot.
The ROV, sourced commercially, can detect and defuse threats impacting communication cables, energy pipelines, and other undersea networks.
Its capabilities also include handling unexploded bombs left from past conflicts, which endanger emergency crews.
Dstl upgraded the unit with precision tools and sensors to support accurate threat identification and safe demolition operations.
