Nagpur-based Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL) has significantly advanced India’s indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capabilities by opening the country’s largest private-sector runway and testing facility for long-range drones. This state-of-the-art facility, equipped with a 1.4 km runway, will be instrumental in the development and refinement of EEL’s Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV, a platform proposed for the Indian Armed Forces. This new facility marks a crucial milestone in India’s pursuit of self-reliance in drone technology, accelerating the testing and development of this vital system.
