The K-5 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), a nuclear-capable system with an operational range of 5,000 to 6,000 kilometers, has been developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The laying of the foundation stone for the Kerala Spacepark (KSPACE) in Thiruvananthapuram was the site of this announcement, where a former scientist from BrahMos Aerospace also said that the K-4 SLBM (3,500 km range) has been put into service aboard Arihant-class submarines. The K-6 SLBM, which the DRDO is actively working on, is anticipated to be capable of reaching speeds of Mach 7.5 and a range of 8,000 km. At a panel discussion on indigenous defense technologies attended by government representatives, industry executives, and scientists, these changes were revealed. The KSPACE facility’s primary purpose is to promote aerospace and defense innovation while fostering cooperation between research organizations, startups, and businesses.
