India’s Ministry of Defence has initiated the acquisition process for 159 Bullet Proof Troop Carriers to strengthen force protection capabilities for Rashtriya Rifles formations engaged in high-risk operational zones. The vehicles are expected to provide enhanced protection against small-arms fire, ambushes, and improvised explosive devices while maintaining operational mobility across difficult terrain. By pursuing the project under the Indian-IDDM procurement category, the Army is encouraging domestic defence firms to develop indigenous protected mobility solutions with high local content and long-term sustainment capability.
