Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE) has unveiled the URAN artillery system, marking a shift toward more agile and survivable artillery platforms for Turkey. Derived from the BORAN system, URAN integrates the gun onto a wheeled vehicle, eliminating the need for towing and enabling rapid deployment. The system is optimized for high-tempo operations, allowing forces to fire and relocate quickly to avoid detection. This capability is increasingly critical on modern battlefields dominated by advanced surveillance and counter-battery technologies, making URAN a valuable addition to mobile fire support units.
