Washington has cleared a proposed deal worth approximately $1.5 billion to provide Austria with 12 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters along with related systems and support services. US officials stated that the sale would improve Austria’s military readiness, strengthen deterrence capabilities, and facilitate closer cooperation with allied forces. The agreement aligns with broader US security objectives in Europe and aims to reinforce Austria’s role as a stable security partner. Congressional approval is still required before the transaction becomes final.
