AVNL has launched a key modernization effort targeting the turret systems of India’s frontline tanks through a new Expression of Interest. The plan involves replacing traditional traverse mechanisms with advanced electromagnetic assemblies, offering faster and more precise turret movement. This upgrade enhances targeting accuracy and integrates seamlessly with modern fire control technologies. Compared to older systems, electromagnetic solutions generate less noise and heat, improving battlefield survivability. The initiative is part of a wider overhaul that includes upgrades to mechanical components and power systems. It also supports stealth operations by enabling silent operation of onboard systems. By focusing on indigenous development, the program strengthens India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem while improving the performance and reliability of its armored fleet.
