The Indian Ministry of Defence has strengthened its air defense capabilities by acquiring the Tunguska air defense system through a contract with Rosoboronexport. Designed to counter low-altitude aerial threats, the system integrates missiles and rapid-fire cannons, enabling effective engagement of drones and cruise missiles. Its advanced radar and fire-control systems ensure accurate targeting even in contested environments. The Tunguska’s mobility allows it to protect critical assets and move alongside ground forces. By complementing systems like the S-400 air defense system, India is building a layered defense network capable of addressing a wide range of aerial threats, reflecting its evolving security priorities.
