Indonesia has officially launched production of its first Evolved Scorpène-class submarines in partnership with France’s Naval Group, reinforcing indigenous naval shipbuilding capabilities. The program combines technology transfer, local industrial participation, and advanced submarine manufacturing to equip the Indonesian Navy with modern diesel-electric attack submarines. Designed for extended endurance and multi-mission operations, the new vessels will significantly improve undersea warfare capabilities while strengthening Indonesia’s defence industry and strategic maritime security.
