Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has achieved another major milestone in indigenous defense
manufacturing with the official delivery of ‘Mangrol’, the third ship in the series of eight Anti-
Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC), to the Indian Navy. The landmark delivery
further strengthens India’s maritime security and aligns directly with the national vision of an
Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) through advanced homegrown shipbuilding capabilities.
The formal Delivery Protocol was signed by Dr. Harikrishnan S, Director (Operations) of CSL, and
Commander U Sharan Kumar, the Commanding Officer (Designate) of ‘Mangrol’. The ceremony
took place in the presence of key dignitaries, including Shri Jose VJ, Chairman and Managing
Director of CSL, and Commodore Piyush Badoni, Chief Recruiting Officer (CRO) of HQ Western
Naval Command, alongside senior officials representing both the Indian Navy and CSL.
Designed and built entirely by Cochin Shipyard Limited, ‘Mangrol’ is a specialized combat vessel
tailored for high-stakes coastal operations. The ship is equipped with advanced indigenous
weapon systems and sensors designed to detect, track, and counter underwater threats in shallow
coastal waters. Its deployment will significantly enhance the Indian Navy’s operational reach,
anti-submarine warfare readiness, and surveillance capabilities along India’s vast coastline.
