ST Engineering has unveiled the second Victory-class Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV), RSS Valour (89), for the Republic of Singapore Navy during a launch ceremony at Benoi Shipyard. The vessel forms part of a six-ship MRCV program announced in 2023 to replace Singapore’s existing missile corvette fleet beginning in 2028. Built as a highly networked naval platform, the MRCV will serve as a mothership for aerial, surface, and underwater drones while functioning as a command hub capable of coordinating multi-domain operations. The new class will also deliver improved interoperability with smaller naval vessels, significantly enhancing operational flexibility. Before commissioning, RSS Valour will complete hull outfitting, combat systems integration, and comprehensive acceptance trials while its first operational crew undergoes specialized training. Addressing the event, Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam, highlighted the strategic importance of the MRCV fleet in protecting the country’s maritime interests and national security. Measuring 150 meters in length with a 21-meter beam, the Victory-class MRCV can accommodate approximately 100 sailors and features a helicopter deck, enclosed hangar, and advanced surveillance and navigation systems. Its weapon suite includes anti-ship, anti-air, and anti-submarine missiles, complemented by a Rafael Typhoon 30mm remote-controlled weapon station and an OTO Melara Strales 76mm guided naval gun. An integrated full-electric propulsion system enables speeds above 20 knots and an operational endurance of up to 7,000 nautical miles.
