Romania has allocated major funding for the domestic construction of two MMPV 90 corvettes derived from a German modular patrol vessel design. Developed with Rheinmetall involvement, the ships will incorporate multifunction radars, anti-submarine warfare equipment, electronic warfare systems, and modern missile defenses. Designed for flexibility, the corvettes will support both manned helicopters and unmanned systems while enhancing naval presence and operational reach. The acquisition forms a central element of Bucharest’s long-term maritime modernization efforts.
