Navantia of Spain and TKMS of Germany have agreed to examine joint submarine construction opportunities for European, NATO, and global customers. The understanding is focused on combining industrial strengths to deliver projects more quickly, economically, and efficiently. TKMS designs are expected to form the basis of future programs, with manufacturing potentially handled at Navantia shipyards in Spain. The companies said closer collaboration between major European builders is essential as navies seek stronger undersea capabilities. Navantia continues work on Spain’s S-80 submarine fleet, while TKMS is producing submarines for Germany and Norway. TKMS also advanced bids in Canada, secured India’s conventional submarine order, and partnered with Fincantieri for the Philippines.
