The Dutch government will invest €248 million in collaborative drone production with Ukraine, expanding earlier commitments to jointly manufacture long-range strike systems. Factories are expected in both Ukraine and the Netherlands under the Build with Ukraine framework, designed to protect production capacity and connect Ukrainian firms with NATO industrial networks. Despite the initiative’s promise, bureaucracy remains a challenge. Industry representatives say approvals for weapons and ammunition production are more complicated than for defensive equipment, creating delays for companies such as Fire Point, which produces drones and cruise missiles. The investment highlights growing European support for Ukraine’s defense manufacturing base.
