Sweden and Poland have signed a landmark $4.8-billion submarine procurement agreement that will see Saab supply three advanced submarines for the Polish Navy. The purchase is intended to replace Poland’s remaining Soviet-built submarine and enhance maritime security in response to evolving regional threats. Alongside the new vessels, Sweden will temporarily loan an upgraded A-17 submarine for training purposes while supporting logistics, maintenance, and infrastructure development. The partnership also includes industrial cooperation and shipbuilding projects, reinforcing long-term defense ties and strengthening naval capabilities for both nations.
