The United States Navy has released a long-term shipbuilding and modernization blueprint aimed at increasing its operational fleet to more than 450 ships over the coming decades. The ambitious plan prioritizes next-generation destroyers, Columbia- and Virginia-class submarines, autonomous vessels, and advanced aircraft carriers, while also introducing reforms to procurement and industrial production. Supported by AI-driven maintenance and construction systems such as ShipOS, the initiative seeks to accelerate naval expansion and strengthen the US maritime advantage against emerging peer threats.
