Canberra has selected Rolls-Royce to supply MT30 gas turbines for the Royal Australian Navy’s Mogami-class frigates under a joint program with Japan. The propulsion system, integrated with diesel engines, produces around 70,000 horsepower and enables speeds exceeding 30 knots. Additional onboard power will come from mtu Series 4000 generators via Daihatsu Infinearth. The MT30 is already widely used across allied navies, ensuring reliability and interoperability.
