Saab has proposed its Lightweight Integrated Mast (SLIM) to the Indian Navy as a modern solution for consolidating sensors, radars, and antennas into a single composite structure. Built from lightweight carbon-fiber materials, it reduces top weight, improves ship stability, and lowers radar visibility. The integrated design ensures reduced electromagnetic interference and better system coordination. Drawing from Visby-class experience, SLIM is modular, pre-tested, and scalable across ship classes, offering streamlined installation and enhanced sensor fusion for network-centric naval warfare.
