Navantia has entered into a long-term support agreement with Turkey to sustain the operational readiness of the TCG Anadolu, a flagship of the country’s naval fleet. The contract, signed with the Naval Shipyards General Directorate, spans three years with an option for extension, covering maintenance, repair, training, and technical assistance services. The agreement adopts a flexible delivery model, allowing the Turkish Navy to request support based on real-time operational requirements. Built domestically with engineering support from Navantia, the Anadolu is derived from the Juan Carlos I concept and incorporates advanced onboard systems. Over time, the vessel has evolved beyond its amphibious assault role, with integration of unmanned systems becoming a central focus. Baykar has tested TB3 drones on the platform, while Turkish Aerospace Industries continues development of the Kızılelma UCAV for carrier-based operations. These upgrades reflect Turkey’s ambition to transform Anadolu into a hybrid platform capable of supporting both traditional amphibious missions and advanced drone-based air operations, significantly expanding its maritime capabilities.
