Britain has sold the retired HMS Enterprise hydrographic survey ship to Bangladesh, enhancing the South Asian navy’s maritime domain awareness capabilities. Built for multi-purpose seabed and coastal surveys, the 91-meter Echo-class vessel supports underwater mapping and naval operations planning. Equipped with diesel-electric propulsion and maneuvering thrusters, it offers extended endurance and operational flexibility. Although primarily a survey platform, it also features light weapons for self-protection. UK officials framed the transfer as a signal of enduring partnership with Bangladesh and a contribution to regional maritime stability in the Indian Ocean.
