BAE Systems has been awarded $98 million by the US Navy to modernize and repair two frontline warships at its San Diego facility. The work includes a docking selected restricted availability for the Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Kansas City and major sustainment activities for the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Stockdale. Planned upgrades range from hull preservation and system refurbishment to improved crew accommodations. Beginning in May 2026, the projects reflect the Navy’s continued investment in extending the service life and readiness of surface combatants. The contracts add to a series of recent multimillion-dollar awards secured by BAE Systems, reinforcing its role as a key provider of naval maintenance and modernization services.
