On the last day of Abu Dhabi’s UMEX and SIMTEX exhibitions, AED 1.26 billion ($342 million) in contracts were awarded to local defense companies. EDGE Group received two major agreements for jet-powered UAV development and Tracked RCV & THEMIS systems, while Caracal International secured a contract for remote-controlled weapons. Across the show, UAE firms signed a total of $980 million in deals, a 20% increase over 2024. The event also emphasized 3D-printed unmanned surface vessels, with manufacturers highlighting the technology’s cost-effectiveness, rapid scalability, and ability to integrate sensors and weapon systems efficiently. These platforms are poised to enhance ISR, combat, and expendable maritime capabilities for the UAE Navy and other regional clients.
