General Dynamics NASSCO has entered a new collaboration agreement with South Korean shipbuilders DSEC and Samsung Heavy Industries to strengthen cooperation in vessel design, production automation, and supporting technologies for US shipbuilding initiatives. The arrangement enables the trio to jointly compete for major US commercial and naval programs, including the Navy’s Next Generation Logistics Ship effort. The partnership builds upon NASSCO’s deep history of working with South Korean designers and shipyards. The California-based shipbuilder, which has produced approximately 150 vessels since the 1950s, is currently constructing the John Lewis-class fleet oilers and contributing to future submarine tender replacement concepts. DSEC brings longstanding experience delivering design and operational support to US shipyards, while Samsung Heavy Industries adds extensive global capability in manufacturing LNG carriers, container vessels, drill ships, and floating production systems.
