The Australian government has unveiled a A$12-billion plan to modernize Perth’s shipyards for nuclear submarine support under AUKUS. The upgrades, spanning 10 years, prepare Australia for US-built Virginia-class subs and later local production. It complements recent procurements, such as 11 Japanese-built frigates and Ghost Shark attack drones.
