At Turnchapel Wharf in Plymouth, the UK Royal Navy’s future Extra Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XLAUV) was launched by the British unmanned systems business MSubs. The achievement is a component of London’s “Cetus Project,” which aims to establish an unmanned submarine fleet that will improve the military’s capacity to conduct modern underwater warfare. Once the ships are delivered, they will be used independently to protect the nation’s vital infrastructure and monitor subsea operations throughout its territory.
