The “Sichuan” is the People’s Liberation Army Navy of China’s first amphibious assault ship in the Type 076 class. It has a full-load displacement of over 40,000 tons, a double island superstructure, and a full-length flight deck, making it Beijing’s largest naval vessel. In addition to carrying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, the Sichuan is equipped to launch fighter jets thanks to its electromagnetic catapult and arrestor technologies. Following its launch ceremony, the Sichuan will go through a number of sea trials and testing.
