The Russian Navy revealed its intentions to upgrade its Ivan Gren-class landing vessels with the new Project 117113 Cayman. The Nevskoye Design Bureau, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), created the new model, which was unveiled at the International Maritime Defense Show “Fleet-2024” in Kronstadt. The Project 117113 Cayman seeks to improve the Russian Navy’s capacity to deploy troops, transport combat vehicles, and carry goods. It addresses the shortcomings of previous models and takes into account input from operations.
