The US Coast Guard has awarded Offshore Service Vessels LLC, a maritime transportation company, a $125-million contract to provide a commercially available icebreaker ship for missions in polar regions. Under this agreement, the Louisiana-based company will transfer and reactivate its anchor-handling tug supply vessel, the MV Aiviq, along with corresponding modifications, technical data, spare parts, certifications, and training. The vessel’s condition and any additional requirements will be assessed in preparation for its full operational capability upon delivery.
