Taiwan is accelerating production of its Sea Sword II missile system as part of a broad naval modernization initiative. Planned procurement exceeding 1,200 missiles reflects a long-term strategy to standardize air-defense weapons across surface combatants while reducing dependence on foreign suppliers. The missile’s vertical-launch capability, high speed, and all-direction engagement profile will improve fleet survivability against aircraft, drones, and missile threats. Large-scale deployment across frigates, corvettes, and amphibious vessels will create a more integrated maritime air-defense architecture.
