Thales has demonstrated the effectiveness of its RapidDestroyer radio-frequency directed energy weapon during recent testing, successfully neutralizing 80 drones. Designed to counter growing unmanned aerial threats, the system employs a four-panel effector architecture that concentrates significantly more energy on targets than previous designs. This enhanced configuration improves precision, energy focus, and engagement effectiveness at extended distances. The successful trials highlight the increasing maturity of directed energy technologies as militaries seek cost-effective and scalable solutions for defeating large drone swarms and protecting critical military assets from evolving aerial threats.
