India’s SSS Defence has entered the tactical shotgun segment with the launch of the T12, a semi-automatic 12-gauge platform designed for modern combat and security roles. The magazine-fed weapon is gas-operated and built around a durable 20-inch nitrided barrel paired with high-strength 7075 T6 aluminum receivers. Fully ambidextrous controls and an adjustable buttstock with integrated cheek support are intended to improve handling for different users and mission profiles. One of the shotgun’s standout features is its drop-in trigger system, an uncommon design element for military-grade shotguns. The T12 is positioned as a dual-role weapon, capable of counter-drone operations using specialized loads while also performing breaching, close-quarter battle, checkpoint security, and perimeter defense missions. SSS Defence emphasized commonality with its broader small arms range, allowing easier training, spare parts support, and maintenance for forces already using the company’s products. Additional variants with integrated suppressors are in development. With drone threats rising and tactical flexibility increasingly valued, the T12 could attract interest from military and law-enforcement users seeking a versatile indigenous solution.
