The Israeli Ministry of Defence has signed a $48 million contract with Elbit Systems to manufacture tens of thousands of 155mm artillery shells domestically. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and strengthen internal production capabilities. The expansion follows earlier agreements to boost air munition output and establish a raw materials facility. With production running continuously across multiple shifts, Israel aims to replenish stockpiles depleted during recent conflicts while also preparing for future operational demands. The move enhances both strategic autonomy and industrial resilience.
