Mobix Labs will continue supplying secure communications hardware to the US Navy under renewed production orders aimed at strengthening network reliability across the service’s surface fleet. The agreement expands previous procurement efforts and supports the Navy’s goal of maintaining resilient communications systems capable of operating in demanding maritime environments. The components produced by Mobix Labs are designed to protect naval networks from interference while enabling secure data exchange during operational missions. Such systems support command-and-control functions by allowing ships to transmit information, coordinate activities, and maintain continuous communication links with other naval units and command authorities. Maintaining secure connectivity has become increasingly important as naval operations rely heavily on digital networks to support surveillance, targeting, and coordinated mission execution. The Navy’s decision to extend production reflects broader investments in advanced communications technologies designed to strengthen tactical networking across the fleet. Over recent years, the service has awarded several major contracts focused on improving data connectivity and information-sharing systems. In February 2026, L3Harris Technologies received a major contract to deliver advanced communications suites for both Virginia-class and Columbia-class submarines, enhancing secure underwater connectivity for strategic naval platforms. Earlier that year, Data Link Solutions secured a $248-million production agreement to supply Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio System terminals for various naval platforms. These terminals enable secure tactical data links used across joint military networks. Other programs also contribute to expanding naval communications capabilities. In January 2025, BAE Systems was awarded an $85-million contract to produce Network Tactical Common Data Link systems used to transmit voice, data, imagery, and full-motion video across aircraft carriers and Constellation-class frigates. In October 2025, Sev1Tech obtained a $49-million contract to support cybersecurity and network engineering operations at the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic. The Navy’s ongoing investment in communications technology also includes a $349-million contract awarded to SAIC in 2023 to support tactical networks across both sea-based and shore-based operations.
