A major NATO country has placed a large multi-hundred-unit order for HERO loitering munitions from Rheinmetall, with production at RWM Italia beginning ahead of 2026 deliveries. The deal includes the latest anti-armor warheads and is valued in the low three-digit-million-euro bracket. Variants include the portable HERO 30 and heavier HERO 120/400 systems for long-range precision attacks. Demand has surged across Europe, with Hungary previously procuring significant quantities and integrating HERO munitions into its modernized Lynx IFV fleet.
