At the Modern Day Marine exhibition in Washington, DC, Northrop Grumman unveiled its one-way assault drone, the “Lumberjack.” The modular, jet-powered loitering munition may be launched from the ground or the air and operates either independently or under human supervision using an integrated data connection that facilitates real-time communication. The Lumberjack may launch submunitions, such as the company’s six-pound (2.7-kilogram) payload, in kinetic attacks, reconnaissance missions, or electronic warfare.
