On December 2, 2024, Helsing, a defense-oriented artificial intelligence firm, officially introduced the HX-2 Karma—an intelligent loitering munition engineered for precision strike operations. Its unveiling followed widespread speculation tied to Germany’s commitment to supply 4,000 armed drones to Ukraine. The HX-2 Karma features an electrically powered, X-wing configuration with four rotors and wings arranged in an “X” shape, offering enhanced agility and a strike range of up to 100 kilometers. Designed for cost-effective mass production, the AI-enabled system is highly resistant to electronic jamming and supports swarm deployment. Its development reflects lessons learned from Helsing’s experience in the Ukrainian theater.
