HENSOLDT UK has been awarded two contracts by SRT Marine Systems to supply 50 coastal radar systems for maritime surveillance networks, enhancing monitoring capabilities in critical coastal regions. These systems will be integrated into national surveillance frameworks, improving the ability to detect and track vessels across congested and strategically important waterways. The radars are based on HENSOLDT’s advanced shore-based sensor architecture, designed to operate effectively in complex maritime environments affected by weather conditions, sea clutter, and high traffic density. Central to the system is the SharpEye radar, a solid-state solution known for its durability, reliability, and superior target detection performance. Unlike traditional mechanically scanned radars, SharpEye offers improved accuracy in identifying small or low-signature targets, including fast-moving craft. Its deployment supports a wide range of applications, from coastal defense to harbor security and naval navigation. The contracts build on HENSOLDT’s growing portfolio of maritime surveillance projects worldwide, including previous upgrades in the UK and deployments in Southeast Asia. As nations continue to invest in maritime domain awareness to safeguard territorial waters and shipping routes, HENSOLDT’s solutions are positioned to play a critical role in next-generation coastal security systems.
