The French Armed Forces are set to receive 17 Saab Giraffe 1X radar systems under a new contract aimed at improving mobile air defense operations. Mounted on tactical vehicles, the compact radar platform is designed for rapid deployment and effective tracking of drones, aircraft, and low-flying aerial threats in complex combat environments. Saab and Scania France will jointly manage production and integration of the systems, which also include training and maintenance support. The Giraffe 1X has gained international attention in recent years as military forces increasingly prioritize counter-drone capabilities and flexible battlefield surveillance solutions. France’s procurement reflects the broader global shift toward mobile and adaptable air defense networks.
