L3Harris is enhancing tactical radio systems with its new Wraith Shield software upgrade, providing soldiers with embedded counter-drone detection capabilities powered by artificial intelligence and RF sensing technology. Instead of relying on standalone drone defense equipment, the system converts each tactical radio into a networked detection node capable of identifying hostile drone activity and sharing threat information across distributed combat formations. Integrated with DataShapes AI’s GlobalEdge visualization platform, Wraith Shield processes radio frequency signals in real time and converts them into actionable intelligence directly on user devices. The technology enables operators to visualize nearby electromagnetic activity and detect aerial threats without centralized processing infrastructure. L3Harris stated that the upgrade strengthens layered battlefield defense concepts by integrating seamlessly with other systems such as VAMPIRE while remaining fully functional as an independent capability. The software will support both newly deployed RF-9820S radios and previously fielded Wraith-enabled systems already used by military customers worldwide.
