US defense technology firm Kopin has secured a follow-on order worth $21.5 million to provide advanced thermal imaging assemblies for a man-portable military weapon system. Although the customer was not disclosed, the company confirmed that the program involves detachable thermal weapon platforms designed for harsh operational conditions. Kopin will manufacture the assemblies entirely using in-house technologies, including specialized optics, microdisplays, electronics, and rugged housing systems. The award builds on the company’s growing defense portfolio, which already includes hundreds of thousands of delivered military vision systems, along with recent contracts for drone goggles, helmet-mounted displays, and MicroLED augmented reality solutions for soldiers.
