India has achieved a major milestone in indigenous defense technology with the successful testing of the Uttam AESA radar developed by DRDO’s LRDE. The radar has undergone extensive flight trials on Tejas prototypes, demonstrating its capability across both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. With over 150 test flights completed, the system has proven its reliability in real-world conditions. Certification from CEMILAC marks a significant step toward large-scale production and integration into Tejas Mk1A aircraft. The radar offers improved detection range, tracking accuracy, and performance in electronic warfare environments, outperforming some existing systems. With approximately 95% indigenous content, it supports India’s self-reliance goals and provides a scalable platform for future aircraft programs.
