EDGE has entered a teaming arrangement with the Brazilian Army to support trials of next-generation rifles for elite units. The assessments will use realistic military ranges and stress-based mission simulations. Systems being tested are Caracal’s CAR 816 tactical rifle chambered in 5.56×45 mm and the CSR50 heavy sniper rifle in 12.7×99 mm caliber. According to the company, the effort is intended to strengthen Brazil’s future small-arms capability while enhancing readiness of specialized soldiers. EDGE added that the cooperation will encourage technical exchange across design, sustainment, and operations. The announcement follows another EDGE move in Brazil, where it joined Indra and SIATT in plans to establish radar manufacturing and expand domestic defense production.
