Nigeria’s Defence Industries Corporation–D7G (DICON-D7G) has produced nearly 1,000 upgraded DG-103 assault rifles within the first two months of operations at its Kaduna manufacturing plant, local reports confirmed. The DG-103 is an indigenously licensed variant of the Russian AK-103, chambered for the 7.62×39mm M43 round. It delivers a cyclic rate of roughly 600 rounds per minute, a muzzle velocity exceeding 700 meters per second, and effective engagement out to about 500 meters. DICON-D7G is also on track to manufacture 60 million rounds of ammunition annually, with full-scale DG-103 production underway. According to Chennar, the company is simultaneously building drones and counter-drone systems with early warning technologies to support frontline forces. He described the integrated weapons and drone production plan as a major milestone in Nigeria’s broader push toward defense self-sufficiency. DICON-D7G is a strategic collaboration between the state-owned Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria and D7G Company Limited, aimed at strengthening indigenous military manufacturing capabilities. Chennar emphasized that these advancements contribute directly to Nigeria’s goal of enhancing national security readiness and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
