Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has revealed new insights into the Tejas Mk1A fighter aircraft by displaying the forward fuselage with its radome removed, exposing the radar installation architecture for the first time. The demonstration highlights the radar mounting frame, structural reinforcements, avionics compartment, and support systems engineered to accommodate the Israeli ELM-2052 Active Electronically Scanned Array radar. Although the radar itself was absent, the visible installation indicates considerable internal space for a large antenna aperture, advanced cooling systems, power management equipment, and associated radio frequency electronics. Engineering assessments suggest the available volume could support a high-density transmit/receive module arrangement capable of significantly improving detection performance and multi-target tracking. The reveal underscores the sophisticated avionics integration underway as the Tejas Mk1A incorporates next-generation sensors, electronic warfare equipment, upgraded mission computers, and advanced digital cockpit technologies.
